This is a great story and as a fan of rescue dogs makes me very happy. Having travelled to South Africa to work with the dogs and cats in the townships I know how hard life in many countries can be for animals and humans alike.Many people would love to bring animals home after falling in love with them but be aware that it can be very costly and may be very stressful for the animal concerned. Always bear in mind that the money you might spend rescuing one animal would probably help hundreds of others if given to a local charity in the area where you're holidaying.
During filming in Morocco for Kingdom of Heaven, Bloom rescued and adopted a dog, Sidi (a black Saluki mix with a white mark on his chest). His other dog Essa pictured below on a beach walk with Kate Bosworth is also a former stray.
