o You Want to be a Vet

I have wanted to be a vet since I was five.

I have wanted to be a vet since I was five. I am only 12 now but I want to know what I can do to give myself a kick-start. Apparently I can do anything (Not to be big headed - teachers words.) When I grow up so i'd also like to know of any other thing I can do with animals if I don't make it as a vet. Also what qualifications would I need to make it? Hope this won't take up too much of your time.

Firstly, good luck! The best thing you can do is make yourself look dedicated and stand out from the crowd. Do as much work experience at vets and kennels and farms and pet shops as you can when you are old enough. If you want something to fall back on then a related degree is good like physiology or biochemistry. This way you can sometimes swap onto the vet course after the first year. As far as qualifications go you need 3 A- Levels. One must be chemistry then you can have physics or maths and biology or zoology. The normal grades needed are 2 A's and 1 B. The most important thing is to stick at it and don't give up.
