Can I be a vet without a degree? I am in need for your advice I am definately going towards a career in veterinary, but I cant see myself surviving university and others think I wont cope either, is there another option then uni? If there isn’t can u tell me how to survive it? I really want to be a vet but have bad ideas about being a vet, such as if I do something very wrong e.g. in an operation, or if I diagnose a disease or problem wrong, understand this can happen. I really want to be a vet and I'd really appreciate it if you could help me. I am going to a veterinary practice for a few days for extra work experience as well. Kayleigh DulsonHave a look at our special page for people who want to be vets. It should answer a lot of your questions. As for worrying about if something goes wrong, you simply can’t afford to beat yourself up about the possibility. If you make it as a vet you should have confidence in yourself. It can be stressful but you simply have to do the job to the best of your ability and make sure you keep up with modern methods and ideas. As for work- experience, it can be very difficult. You have to just keep trying different places and pester people until they’ll have you! Emma
