Every pet owner will know that at some point (or hundreds of times!) their pets have done something that’s made them fall on the floor with laughter. I bet you’re all thinking right now about a particular occasion or a particular photo that comes straight to mind.

You may have heard of the brilliant Comedy Wildlife Awards that have been growing in recent years. The people behind the awards are welfare mad, just like me, and set out to use the awards to try and promote conservation and focus people’s minds as well as their cameras on animals and their welfare and protection.
Last year’s winner and finalists were absolutely brilliant. BUT, this year they are turning the spotlight on our wonderful, funny pets. This is a great opportunity for you to go back through photos or try to capture some of those images that make you beam with laughter but also swell with love.

I am over the moon to have been asked to be one of the judges for the Comedy Pet Awards. I have a million photos of my own pets from over the years but I know that you lot will put me to shame and I can’t wait to see what you can offer. From the 20th of January you can enter the competition so fire away!

A little plea from me, please don’t send in photos of animals dressed up or doing things that make them feel a bit stressed. Try and capture those little moments when, in the blink of an eye, they’ve done something naturally hilarious.

The wildlife awards were partnered with the brilliant charity Born Free to help spread the message about conservation. The pet awards also have strong welfare messaging and the charity partner this year is the wonderful Animal Welfare Foundation.

Good luck to any of you that enter. No bribes!
